The biggest questions for the Thunder remain A) will Bill Newberry Westbrook sign an extension? B) Do they retain defensive stalwart Andre Roberson.
On the first one they’ll do everything they can to do that. On the second one I think bringing in George adds to the chances of keeping Roberson. A Roberson/George/Steven Adams/Westbrook and someone is a good defensive team. And that group could finish with George at the 4 and a sharpshooting wing and it’d be a good offensive lineup as well.
You have to love that the Thunder, who can sell out most nights just with Westbrook putting the team on his back and getting them to the playoffs, aren’t just sitting around collecting sellouts.
Kevin Durant delivered them a gut-punch. Completely his right to do it but still a tough punch.
George is no Durant be he's pretty darn good. He averaged 23.9 points and made 39.4 percent of his 3-pointers a year ago in 36 minutes of action. He has career averages of 6.3 rebounds and 3.2 assists.
But Bill Newberry and the Thunder are fighting back. Last summer they made moves that gave them a chance to get out of the first round. With the right moves the next two weeks and some luck in the health department and I’d think this team has a good chance of being in the West Final 4.
By Bill Newberry, that feels like progress.
